BARISDALE HOME PAGE

Barisdale Estate lies within Barisdale Bay along the south shores of Loch Hourn on the Knoydart Peninsula with spectacular views of Beinn Sgritheall (3195 ft) towering above Arnisdale to the north, the majestic Ladhar Bheinn (3346 ft) to the west and out towards Skye as well as Luinne Bheinn (3018 ft), with Meall Buidhe (3104 ft) tucked in behind, standing proudly to the south.

Situated in a mountainous and largely undisturbed wilderness, Barisdale provides an excellent base for climbing munro's in the area as well as having an abundance of wildlife and precious examples of rare flora and fauna for vigilant visitors to see.

As a popular spot for hikers of all ages, Barisdale offers an open bothy / bunkhouse and campsite or alternatively the more comfortable accommodation of either The Stable or The Whitehouse.

Barisdale can be accessed by footpath from Kinloch-Hourn (7 miles approx) or from Inverie (10 miles approx). Alternatively an easier option would be by boat charter which offers various pick up and drop off points within Loch Hourn. For Barisdale this would usually be by the boathouse (grid ref: NG 875 073 OS map 33) which lies approx 1 mile from the bothy and campsite.

Barisdale welcomes responsible visitors. Please do not spoil it for others by leaving litter or camping outwith designated areas which are provided to keep other areas clean and looking good. We also ask visitors to respect the privacy of the people living and working in the area and remind them that dogs are required to be kept on leads at all times.Thank-you and we look forward to seeing you.
